Just received my formal rejection to one of the Undergrad Research programs I applied to. Really sucks, but supposedly they received over 600 applications for 10 positions. Downside is that I didn't even find out about REU's until this semester and they can only be completed during the summer while you are still working on your undergrad degree, so this would be the LAST summer that I would be eligible since my degree will be completed next spring. Also, because my professor didn't tell us about the program until about mid-February, 99% of the deadlines had already passed, so I applied for the only TWO that I could still possibly get into. Haven't heard anything from the other one but the position is no longer listed on the website so I can only assume that they have already made there selection and just didn't bother contacting everyone else. Oh well. Hopefully things will look up after my doctor appointment today and maybe there will be something that we can do to get my body into a condition that I can apply for more positions....right now I'm limited to those that DON'T say "good physical condition required" which sadly there are not a great deal of beginning positions without that.
Fingers crossed.
